Mary Beth Pistillo joined the Buffett Early Childhood Institute in 2015 as an educational facilitator. She works with Pinewood Elementary in the Omaha Public Schools and Cody Elementary in the Millard school district. Pistillo provides on-site support to elementary school leaders and teachers, enhancing teaching and learning in preschool – third grade classrooms. She also supports teachers through professional development workshops and coaching as part of the Superintendents’ Plan. The Michigan native previously served as a training coordinator for the Nebraska Department of Education’s Early Childhood Training Center, where she coordinated, designed, and implemented training throughout the state in early childhood and literacy. She also has been an adjunct faculty member at the College of Saint Mary, the master’s program in early childhood education at Concordia University, and for Metropolitan Community College in early childhood education. She also has eight years of teaching experience in PreK and Kindergarten in the Omaha and Ralston school districts. Pistillo earned a bachelor’s degree in human development from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a bachelor’s degree in education with an early childhood endorsement from the University of Nebraska Omaha. She also has a master’s degree in reading from UNO and a master’s in curriculum and instruction from Doane College.
