Ashia Aubrey is digital communications specialist at the Buffett Early Childhood Institute, responsible for leading the Institute's efforts on social media. Aubrey joined the Institute in 2021 as a Preschool Development Grant communications specialist, providing support for grant activities housed at the Institute. Before joining the Institute, Aubrey was the associate director of communications at an Omaha nonprofit. Prior to that, she was a reporter and television news anchor in Nebraska, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. The Tennessee native earned a master’s degree in integrated media communications and a certificate in public relations and social media at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s College of Journalism and Mass Communications. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in strategic communications with an emphasis in psychology at Hampton University, a historically Black university in Hampton, Virginia.
