We’re writing to share an important update about the partnership between the Buffett Early Childhood Institute at the University of Nebraska and the National Workforce Registry Alliance (NWRA).
In January 2025, our organizations entered into a formal asset transfer agreement whereby NWRA was administratively housed within the Buffett Institute. This arrangement was initiated with a shared goal: to strengthen the early childhood workforce by aligning our expertise and growing the capacity of both organizations. This step was taken with intention and care, guided by a mutual desire to elevate the early childhood workforce and the entire field.
After thoughtful reflection and evaluation, the NWRA and the Buffett Institute have jointly decided to end the formal arrangement through which the Institute administratively housed NWRA by accepting all of its assets and liabilities. This return to our previous operating arrangements was effective as of Feb. 27, 2026. This decision is one that enables each organization to pursue its stated mission through structures that are better suited to its operational and oversight models, while continuing to collaborate in meaningful ways as separate organizations.
The NWRA has returned to its status as an independent 501(c)(3) and resumed operations as a standalone organization. Its mission, values, and commitment to the early childhood workforce remain unchanged.
We remain committed to each other’s success and to the shared goal of a stronger, more supported early childhood workforce. Thank you for your continued partnership, trust, and dedication to this necessary and vital work.
