Erica Sesay was appointed associate director of communications at the Buffett Institute in 2022. In this role, she manages the day-to-day operations of the communications unit and leads events, project management, internal communications, database creation and management, as well as implements communications and marketing programs and activities, and assists with media relations.
Sesay joined the Buffett Institute in 2021 as a public outreach communications specialist. Prior to that, she worked for five years in the Nebraska Athletic Department, where she supported the communications, social media, and recruiting efforts for several Husker programs including football, softball, volleyball, men’s and women’s gymnastics, and rifle. In her role, Sesay also worked directly with Nebraska’s award-winning Life Skills program and supported NCAA and Big Ten staff at postseason events. She also had internships with the Los Angeles Chargers and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Athletic Department.
A proud native of Stoughton, Wisconsin, Sesay earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she had a double major in broadcasting and advertising and public relations, and minors in theater and Spanish. She also has an MBA from UNL. She is married to Abdul Sesay.
