Great professional learning goes beyond sharing information—it creates opportunities for adults to connect, reflect, collaborate, and apply new learning to their daily work. In this interactive workshop, participants will explore what makes professional learning meaningful and engaging for adult learners and how to intentionally design learning experiences that respond to educators' needs, strengths, and motivations.
Using Malcolm Knowles' principles of adult learning as a foundation, participants will experience strategies that honor prior knowledge, encourage active participation, and create relevance for real-world practice. Through collaborative activities, discussion, and reflection, educators and leaders will examine how to move beyond "sit-and-get" professional development and design learning experiences that inspire action and support lasting change.
Objectives:
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify key principles of adult learning and their impact on professional learning design.
- Apply practical strategies that increase engagement, relevance, and participation in adult learning experiences.
