Dr. Fitzgerald is past president and executive director of the Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health and the International Association for Infant Mental Health. He served as executive director of the World Association for Infant Mental Health for 16 years and has been associated with the Early Head Start National Research Consortium and the American Indian/Alaska Native Head Start Research Center. Formerly he was editor-in-chief of the Infant Mental Health Journal, associate editor of Perspectives in Infant Mental Health, and currently is editor-in-chief of Adversity and Resilience Science: Research and Practice.
