The first institute in the 2019-20 PD for All series will be Wednesday, Nov. 6, and will focus on executive function and self-regulation. The keynote speaker will be Julia Torquati, an award-winning professor in the Department of Child, Youth and Family Studies (CYAF) and Community Chair in Infant and Child Mental Health at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Other featured presenters include Miriam Kuhn, assistant professor in the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders at the University of Nebraska at Omaha; Brenda Saxe, a consultant and early childhood trainer in Bellevue; and Amy Mart, director of professional learning at the Buffett Institute.
Breakout session topics include children's executive functioning in a natural outdoor setting vs. indoors; executive function and challenging behaviors in preschool-age children; developing essential life skills for children from birth through age 3; and supporting children's executive functioning in Kindergarten through Grade 3. This institute will be presented in English.
