Machaela Cavanaugh

Machaela Cavanaugh joined the Buffett Early Childhood Institute in 2015 as the conferences and special projects manager. Her responsibilities include community and university outreach, strategy development for special events and conferences, and project management for all communications materials. The Omaha native previously served as the director of development for Opera Omaha and the American Province of the Servants of Mary. Prior to that she worked in Washington, D.C. at the Brookings Institute and for Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska. Cavanaugh earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., and a master’s degree in public administration with a focus in nonprofit management from the University of Nebraska Omaha.
