Professional Development: Cultural and Linguistic Responsiveness for Whole Child Development

Omaha, Neb.

The second in a series of three professional development events for those who work with young children in the Learning Community of Douglas and Sarpy Counties. Offered as part of the Superintendents’ Early Childhood Plan. Presenters include Dr. Tonia Durden, an assistant professor and early childhood extension specialist in the Department of Child, Youth and Family Studies at UNL; Nicky Clark and Beth Seachrest with Heartland Family Service; Melissa Wolken, a dual-language and ESL coordinator at Gomez Heritage Elementary in OPS; Janette Merkel, a K-3 program specialist with the Buffett Institute; and Dr. Jane Fleming, co-founder and director of professional development of KIDS LIKE US, a Chicago nonprofit.

Event will be held at the Salvation Army Kroc Center Omaha, 2825 Y Street.
